Verdun 1916

Here’s a sneak peek at a new game in development that will be the first installment in a new series called Fast Clash. Entitled Verdun 1916, this first title is scheduled for release on February 21, 2026, the 110th anniversary of the Battle of Verdun. As it is a work in progress, please note that the content indicated in this first preview is of course not final.

The series

The Fast Clash Series is a new collection of games designed to be played quickly, replayed often, and always enjoyable. The rules are streamlined and seamless, allowing for immediate immersion into the action. Each title features battles from the early 20th century (1900-1925), on a tactical, operational, or strategic scale. The game content is carefully crafted, and the cards and game elements are intuitive, visually appealing, and comfortable to play: everything is designed for a fluid, intense experience that’s accessible to a wide audience.

The first game

VERDUN 1916 simulates the World War I battle that pitted the French against the Germans from February 21 to December 15, 1916.

Components

A large map depicts the Verdun battlefield, two Grand Headquarters player aids (one for each side, including two counters for recording losses and morale), 30 position cards placed on the large map, and 48 action cards. Units can be used in two ways: either as wooden blocks (small or long, blue for France and green for Germany) or on a board of 81 counters and two six-sided dice.

Scale

Infantry: A small block represents a battalion (standard or Stosstrupen) or a battery group of 60 artillery pieces. A large block represents a regiment. One graduation on the time scale corresponds to approximately 10 days. The map represents a quadrilateral of 25 x 30 km.
